I served as Public Relations Manager for the Sturdy Memorial Hospital Amateur Radio Club in Attleboro, MA for several years. I designed, edit and update their web site - w1smh.com and provided the majority of the club's promotional material during that time. Together with several other members, we mounted a very successful campaign to raise public awareness to the club's activities and capabilities. We ran many Ham Radio Demonstrations using the club's emergency communications equipment. Our aim was to promote Ham Radio and get more people either interested or at least, aware of the existence of a truly rewarding hobby/service.
In March of 2003, Phil Temples - K9HI, ARRL Eastern Mass Section Manager, appointed me to the position of Public Information Coordinator. In that role, I was responsible for providing assistance and direction to a number of Eastern Mass Public Information Officers as well as supporting Phil and his staff with P.R. advice and support. My first major task was to petition Governor Mitt Romney to declare June 23rd through 29th as Amateur Radio Week. With assistance from Tom Kinahan - N1CPE, Mike Neilsen - W1MPN, Shawn O'Donnell - K3HI and Massachusetts Emergency Management P.I.O. Peter Judge, we were able to get a Proclamation signed. It ended up as Amateur Radio "Day" instead of "week" but that was fine. We'd also like to acknowledge State Representative Betty Poirier for her efforts in helping get this Proclamation signed.
Due to a tremendous lack of time created by changes in my position in field service, I was forced to resign the ARRL Public Information Coordinator position. I have since accepted a position as Public Information Officer in the Southeastern Mass area. We must never stop striving to distribute the word about Amateur Radio to our public. If we do, our hobby/service is doomed.

K3HI, N1CPE, W1MPN, K9HI and N1IV at Massachusetts Statehouse with Amateur Radio Day Proclamation in June 2003. Governor Mitt Romney, with assistance from State Representative Betty Poirier, signed a Proclamation declaring June 28th and 29th, Amateur Radio Day in Massachusetts.

I love graphic design and web site design, as well as Ham Radio PR.
