I am a member of Eastern Mass A.R.E.S. (Amateur Radio Emergency Services)
as well as a trained Skywarn Spotter for the National Weather
Service. Bruce Bumpus -
Plainville EMA Director, appointed me to his team as R.A.C.E.S.
(Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service) Radio Operator for the
Town's Emergency Management Team. Along with Bruce, I handle the
communications duties for the Town in the event of a
Disaster/Storm or for regularly scheduled drills. We have several
pieces of emergency equipment at our disposal and can set up in a
very short time and be on the air. We work closely with the
Plainville Police and Fire Departments as well as the surrounding
communities' EMA staff. |
